Mishima
9 spots left
Description
In this class, you will learn the Mishima surface technique by carving simple designs into leather-hard clay and filling those lines with a contrasting colored slip. You’ll also learn how to make your own slip and tint it using Mason stains for strong, reliable colour. Please be aware that we will be handling bone-dry clay to make our slip, as well as stains that may contain cadmium, so you may choose to bring a dust mask. What to bring: 1 medium plastic container with a tight-fitting lid (can be a clean 1L yogurt container or similar), 1 or 2 leatherhard pots, a metal rib, a mason stain of your colour choice, a sponge, a carving tool or pin tool, and images for inspiration or templates. What’s included: Slip and wax will be provided.
