Description

Spend 2 days with Annette ten Cate in this hand-building animal sculptural workshop. Using simple tools, basic sighting and various hand-building techniques, you’ll learn how to transform clay into animal sculptures. Whether you're new to clay or an experienced maker, these methods will provide a strong foundation to confidently create expressive sculptural pieces. The methods we cover can be used to build both animal and figurative forms as well as functional items, wall hung pieces and ornaments. In day one we will build 2-3 hollow sculptural forms, focusing on both birds and rabbits. For day two please bring reference images to create the animal of your choosing, perhaps a family pet or favourite wildlife neighbour. Annette is a graduate of the Sheridan Craft & Design program in Ceramics and has been creating both figurative and wildlife sculptures for over 15 years. She is passionate about sharing her enthusiasm for hand-building in clay, and appreciating wildlife through art.
