Description
This workshop is intended for those with some prior clay experience. Participants are welcome to create their raku pieces using either wheel throwing or handbuilding techniques in advance of the workshop. Please reach out to organize picking up your included clay. The experience will take place over two sessions at the ClayWorks Studio: Session 1 - Instruction & Glazing - August 31st from 6:00 - 9:00 pm We will cover the basics of raku firing, including safety, techniques, and materials. Participants will glaze their previously bisque-fired pieces in preparation for firing. Session 2 – Outdoor Raku Firing - September 2nd from either 1:00 - 4:00 pm or 6:00 - 9:00 pm Participants will return for the firing session, held outdoors in the studio parking lot. The Guild will provide some shared bins, combustibles, and a limited number of extra gloves for use during the firing.
