Judy Dean

Being a three dimensional artist brings out the creative side of Judy. The texture, form and function of each piece of pottery are very important in its use. Having attended Mohawk College starting in 1976, and living in Brantford her whole life, Judy’s pottery brings a never-ending enjoyment for all who possess her one of a kind pieces. Working in her home studio is a great source of satisfaction. She so enjoys teaching pottery at Donn Zver School of Pottery.

The step by step process of opening a bag of clay, rolling it out or throwing it on the potters' wheel, making glazes and applying them to each hand-crafted piece and finally firing them is an inspiration. The best time in the process is to unload a glaze kiln. Many wonderful colours and textures and little surprises await the eyes. Different firing methods, raku, smoke fired, saggar and naked raku are a wonderful experience.

Whether sitting on the mantle or in a cupboard waiting to be used, pottery can bring a warm feeling to your soul.
