Horsehair Firing Workshop
10 spots left
Description
Try the interesting alternative firing technique of horsehair firing. We pull hot pots out of the kiln and ‘touch’ horsehair, or feathers, to the surface to leave a carbon shadow on the surface of your pot. A decorative technique that produces lovely and interesting surfaces. Instructor: Christie Gruppe Class Time: 6:30 - 9:30 pm Date: March 23rd Please bring 4-5 small to medium sized bisque fired pots (max 8 inches). Ideally, your pots have been burnished or have Terra Sigillata applied (not necessary) at the bone-dry or leather-hard stage. Works best with white clay. We will provide horsehair, feathers, and sugar, though you are welcome to bring your own.
